Moonlight Tango | Tango Lessons

Often we get asked where one can start to learn Tango; Brisbane has a number of great options to start your journey. This page gives you a list of all the schools and teachers we know of. In time, we suggest you try all teachers as they all have different teaching and dancing styles. Diversity is key to enrich your tango.

Tango Nights (Noches de Tango) are a great opportunity to try some of the schools below for free in a comfortable environment. By joining us on Wednesday evening at 17:30 you will be able to learn from most of the teachers listed below at EVITA Restaurant, book your free ticket now!

As you start your journey into the beautiful world of Tango keep in mind a few things:

  • Tango is easy, or at least as easy as it should be while still maintaining the complexity and multi-dimensional nature which makes it an art form; the main task of your teacher is to show you how to make it easier for you to learn

  • Most of the "rules" and "footwork" you will learn are functional. Tango rules have not been written in a holy book hidden under Buenos Aires, but follow a certain logic based on musicality, connection, beauty and comfort. Nothing is static in tango

  • Dancing is more than just steps, it is love for music, community building and participation, culture, fitness, health, making friends, sharing and much more. As you chose which school to attend make sure you also think of the group culture, social environment, cultural scope and community participation that they can offer

  • Ultimately, remember that we are all one great tango community and as you make your first steps you are already a part of it!
